Kroll Ontrack launches White Paper to raise awareness of Remote Data Recovery™

~ highlights scenarios where solution can save millions ~

Sending hardware away to recover lost or corrupted data could be costing companies up to £5 million a day in unnecessary downtime and fees. This means time-effective data recovery services should become a higher business priority.

This is according to Kroll Ontrack, which found that companies estimate the cost of downtime, coupled with administration fees, at up to £608,000 per hour.

In response, the data recovery specialist has launched a White Paper - Data Recovery - Performed Remotely. The Paper outlines how Remote Data Recovery™ (RDR®) can be a viable alternative to sending away hardware, as it enables data to be recovered by an engineer over the Internet. RDR® therefore reduces the time it takes to retrieve information, as hard drives don’t need to be shipped out of the office, making it a better option for situations when hardware isn’t damaged.

The White Paper also explains how and when RDR® can be used, and what to look for when selecting a data recovery specialist. In addition, it outlines the possible causes of data loss and the impact it can have on business, and highlights why RDR® can be the most appropriate solution for companies or individuals that face a data loss situation.

"In the past, there was a fairly stark choice - either accept that lost data was never to be seen again, which could be costly, or send the hardware away to be restored, which could take days," said Todd Johnson, general manager at Kroll Ontrack. "Today, not all organisations realise that data can actually be recovered remotely, in a matter of hours rather than days, in almost half of all data loss cases. The aim of the White Paper is to show firms that there is another option."

"The reality is that most businesses and individuals will need to recover data at some point. The more options you have, the more likely you are to use the most efficient one for your needs when that time comes," he continued.
