What is your most unusual/challenging/interesting recovery to date?
I have worked on many interesting recoveries. The one that’s still on my top list is a recovery for an old man who was still using his beloved 20 years old Sharp font writer. He lost all his four years data on his floppy disc. As the disc was not in a readable condition, I found the reading the disc a challenging and I also enjoyed recovering 100% of the customer’s data.
The drive had a number of failures, including physical media damage to the platters, electronics failure and internal issues. It was somewhat of a challenge, due to the multiple failures and the damage to the media. After a lot of cleaning, repairs and patience, I managed to recover 100% of the customer’s data.
What new skills & technology are you currently learning about?
Learning to use my new recording studio software at home. Also trying to improve my project management skills at work

Reviewing both work and personal objectives for 2013, one of my personal objectives is to re-join my old hip-pop group.
What type of mobile phone do you have?
Smile :). I love smart phones and I have four that I carry with me at all time. 2 BlackBerrys (cannot do without my BB), 1 HTC and 1 Nokia. Although I am a big fan of Apple, but I’m still waiting for Apple to produce the right iPhone that will meet my needs.
How do you relax after work/on weekends?
I am passionate about my music, so playing music relaxes me and spending time with my 2 lovely kids. I play in clubs and events at weekends.
If you weren’t a data recovery engineer, what would your ideal career be & why?
Because of my passion for music, I think I would be a radio DJ or a music producer.
What is your top tip for data recovery?
Don’t take your mobile phone to swim pool parties.
