Bimodal IT has been highlighted as the necessary next focus for business technology in order to provide both network security and stability alongside a degree of flexibility necessary for innovation and growth.
Gartner fellow and managing vice president Daryl Plummer has argued efficient IT systems need to be able to respond to the ever-changing business environment, while at the same time they must be resilient to risk.
“Fluidity is a fundamental quality of digital business because it operationalises business moments,” he stated, adding that companies should allow their IT systems to evolve naturally, but with a focus on ensuring issues like data recovery, security and file management are always to the fore of thinking.
Mr Plummer concluded that one of the key aspects that separates the modern digital business from other types of organisation is the fact that this type of firm is “always on”.
In that respect, it requires a stronger degree of data management and IT systems that are able to keep up with growing levels of business demand.
