Data security fears revealed

The latest Data Security Confidence Index from SafeNet has revealed the significant number of professionals that feel their businesses’ data could be at risk in the event of a network breach.

Overall, 60 per cent of respondents to the annual survey said they would be fearful that data could be lost or stolen if criminals breached firewalls and other security measures for their firm’s IT infrastructure.

Furthermore, 41 per cent stated their belief that their systems had been infiltrated in this way in the past.

Overall, a focus on comprehensive protection and data recovery measures in the event of a breach should therefore be a chief aim for the majority of businesses in the coming years, as failure to do so could result in serious financial and reputational losses.

A statement from SafeNet read: “Around half (53 per cent) of surveyed IT decision-makers say that high-profile data breaches in the news have driven their organisation to change their security strategy.”
