Small to medium-sized businesses need to understand the importance of effective data protection prior to information being lost, but in many cases this is an afterthought for many firms.
This is the view of Anamika Budree, sales manager branded products at WD SA, who told IT Web how the consequences of data loss can be devastating for smaller companies and therefore investment in data recovery measures and improved access to backups in times of crisis is a must.
“SMEs require smarter ways of storing data, smarter in a sense that they want their information to be centralised. Having it in one place makes it easier to access, share and backup,” Ms Budree argued.
She concluded that, in many cases, cloud-enabled networks can be an excellent solution to this problem for firms, as it allows for the swift transfer of files between locations and gives businesses greater flexibility in times of crisis.
