Data loss named most significant supply chain risk

When it comes to working with third-party vendors, organisations around the world are more worried about the loss or exposure of mission-critical data than any other risk.

This is according to a poll of almost 500 IT and risk-management professionals, conducted by Forrester Research on behalf of BitSight and published on March 3rd.

Some 63 per cent of respondents considered data loss and theft the most significant risks associated with their supply chain relationships.

For comparison, just 55 per cent said they were worried about whether or not their vendors would deliver a quality and timely service as contracted.

Commenting on the results, BitSight co-founder and chief technology officer Stephen Boyer said the supply chain had become “a cyber security minefield” for many companies.

Last month, Easy Office Phone published research into the trends set to impact small business service providers in 2015.

It predicted that demand for disaster recovery solutions will surge, contradicting the common assumption that only large organisations are engaged in business continuity planning.

It is wise to choose a data recovery company who has a track record in recovering from the type of data loss you have experienced.
