Chief information officers (CIOs) across the globe are united in facing the opportunities and challenges thrown up by the digitalisation of the business world.
This is according to new research from Gartner, which said this is one of the few key issues all IT leaders have in common.
Dave Aron, a vice-president and fellow at the research organisation, stated: “The only certainty for CIOs seems to be the unstoppable advancement of digitalisation.
“CIOs are facing new, more challenging and more exciting circumstances as digital moves to centre stage.”
Managing and securing the vast amounts of data businesses now have at their disposal is just one of the many outcomes of digitalisation that IT leaders need to get to grips with if they are to succeed in this environment.
According to Gartner, CIOs will be aided in their attempts to do so by an average budget increase of 1.1 per cent this year.
