Analysis of the global data management sector from Gartner has revealed the growing necessity for companies to have access to the most talented individuals if they wish to make ambitious digital strategies a success in the coming years.
Partha Iyengar, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, stated: “As enterprises prepare for an increasingly digital world, CIOs must learn to tap into technology expertise across organisations and business domains.”
According to Gartner’s expert commentary, demand is growing across all business sectors for firms to harness the latest technologies to leverage a competitive advantage, with the growth in information being collated by companies opening the door to more effective analysis of consumer trends and behaviours.
This means firms must be prepared to invest in taking on and attracting the most talented workers who are able to utilise big data technologies to the full, as doing so can play an important part in improving the performance of all areas of a business.
Indeed, research compiled by the analyst also recently showed the coming 12 months will likely see an increase in IT investment among many senior business leaders, with 33 per cent of company CIOs now looking to drive growth as economic conditions continue to improve.
IT is seen as one of the best areas in which to facilitate these gains, with data management technology lying at the heart of digital strategies that will aim to pinpoint areas of expansion.
Moreover, Ms Iyengar believes the rate at which companies are now collecting new data and the fact digital issues now affect a wide range of business areas means they will need to be more proactive than ever in engaging with top talent and ensuring they do not get left behind when it comes to attracting the best.
“The normal pace at which businesses develop and plot out learning and assignments will not suffice. Speed, nimbleness and imagination are crucial,” she stated.
