Almost nine in ten enterprises around the world now store sensitive data in more than one cloud environment, according to the results of a new survey.
Security vendor CipherCloud polled 150 members of the Global 2000 index, finding that 89 per cent were required to protect data across multiple clouds.
Asked to identify their specific technology needs, almost three-quarters (72 per cent) cited content security solutions, while 65 per cent sought better visibility of their various data repositories.
Almost half (45 per cent) stated that improved data loss prevention had become one of their top priorities in light of their growing hybrid cloud use.
“Enterprises are taking a broader view of cloud security,” said Pravin Kothari, CipherCloud’s founder and chief executive.
“As they continue to adopt the cloud, enterprises are recognising the importance of a platform approach to fully protect their data.”
Earlier this month, a report from Vormetric estimated that more than a third (36 per cent) of sensitive business data is currently stored in cloud environments.
