Internal preparation is key to dealing with any computer forensics investigation, with members of staff ready to be engaged with different roles and responsibilities.

In an interview with HR Magazine, Kroll Ontrack business development consultant Graham Jackson pointed out that it pays to be prepared for an IP theft scenario.

This includes properly assigning roles internally, including giving people the authority to authorise a forensic investigation and making it someone's responsibility to deal with media enquiries and communication.

He wrote in the magazine that a small investment in equipping staff with the right skills and knowledge can make all the difference to the outcome of a data breach or theft scenario.

Growing regulatory pressures have also increased the need to remain on top of emerging legal technologies.

Regular audits and compliance demands staff are kept informed through training and updates on industry developments.
