A former legal advisor to News International has become the latest person to be arrested in connection to the phone hacking investigation Operation Weeting.
Tom Crone was arrested late last week (August 30th) on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications contrary to Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
He has since been bailed until October and has issued a statement denying the allegations but pledging to help the police with all enquiries.
Computer and mobile phone investigations have been integral to the investigation, with electronic evidence revealing the potential scale of hacking at the now defunct newspaper.
Mr Crone was the 25th person to be arrested under Operation Weeting, following the arrest of eight people in August, including Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson.
Ms Brooks, the former chief executive of News International, is to appear in Westminster Magistrates Court today to face charges linked to phone hacking.
She will face one general charge and two more specific charges linked to Milly Dowler and Andrew Gilchrist.
