Facebook harassment suspect arrested following computer investigation

Category: Computer Forensics

28 August, 2012

A man has been arrested on suspicion of harassing a woman in Brighton via Facebook.

Police officers conducted a forensic computer investigation in a bid to establish the source of abuse the victim received while using social networking site.

She alleges that her account and emails had been hacked into by an unknown source.

A 32-year-old man was arrested yesterday, following a coordinated effort by Brighton and Hove and West Midlands Police.

The man from Bournville, Birmingham has since been bailed while Sussex Police continue with their investigation.

Another Brighton woman, Nicola Brookes, captured headlines earlier this year when she attempted to change the law so that internet trolls could be threatened with having their anonymity revealed if they abuse other people online.

The 45-year-old won her High Court case and the judge ordered Facebook to reveal the personal details of the people who were responsible for bullying her.
