Businesses are having to struggle with the ever-increasing volume of data produced within their company.
But it’s not just information from customers and financial data that businesses are generating more and more of: The huge reliance on emails is also putting data management departments under pressure.
Employees receive a massive number of emails every day, internally and externally, and the more employees a company has, the more emails they generate.
But it is not as simple as deleting old emails, as was revealed during the Samsung vs Apple patent case, because businesses have a responsibility to keep certain information.
Samsung were criticised in the case for continuing with their 30 day deletion policy even after the litigation began, potentially erasing legally important data.
Having a strong data archiving policy and educating staff about the type of emails they need to keep or destroy is a key way to avoid any regulatory breaches.
Do you know what data is stored on your company's archives? Why wait for a data loss to find out - Speak with the Kroll Ontrack team today.
