Employees are a key cause of data loss

Category: Data recovery

17 September, 2012

Businesses are increasingly aware of the key issues likely to cause data loss within their organisation.

Maintaining compliance with data protection laws is a major motivating factor, as is the damaging effect data loss can have on internal operations.

For that reason, more firms are tightening security and increasing their focus on potential insider threats.

A recent Check Point survey found that 26 per cent of organisations are worried about how to stop data losses by employees.

However, only a small fraction of internal data losses are through malicious actions, with human error and accidental damage thought to be the main causes.

Simply dropping a laptop or spilling coffee onto a device containing the sole copies of important documents can be devastating for businesses.

The rapid recovery of data in these circumstances can be vital to the future success of an organisation but education of staff as to the dangers of data loss is an important long-term measure.

It is wise to choose a data recovery company that has a track record in recovering from the type of data loss you have experienced.
