Cloud computing is a valuable tool when to protecting against data loss, but this does not mean that businesses are absolved of responsibility.

As most clients will blame the company, rather than its cloud provider, for any data loss and the subsequent disruption, firms need to take steps to mitigate the chances of data loss.

One main way to do this is to have a strong data recovery process in place so that should cloud backups go down, the business still has some access to information.

Discuss with the cloud provider as to whose responsibility it is to ensure data is properly secured, it may be the them, it may be you, so this discussion is vital to avoid potential data loss through theft or hacking.

Although making the move to the cloud can be potentially complex and challenging, for many businesses it is more than worth it for the extra flexibility and access it provides them.
